New Delhi: Bhavya Goel and Raskriti Jain of Class 12, Amity International School, Pushp Vihar, New Delhi, have won the State Level Finals of the “Fit India Quiz-2022”, the largest quiz in the country, organized by the Sports Authority of India, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, and Ministry of Education, as part of the Fit India Movement started by the Hon’ble prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. The winning team comprising of Bhavya Goel and Raskriti Jain have been awarded a total cash prize of Rs 25,000 and the school has been rewarded with Rs 2,50,000 cash prize.

Extremely proud and elated at the students’ achievements, Dr. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools, stated, “Our students have always excelled at various platforms, bringing laurels to their school and country. Students are the future leaders of the country and therefore, Amity provides a plethora of opportunities to its students so that they can learn, grow and enhance their skills and can lead the country on the path of scientific and economic development. Sharing his experience, Bhavya Goel, said, “It was an enriching experience for us to participate in this Quiz Competition as it enhanced our knowledge about sports and fitness. Since a lot of emphasis was laid on traditional Indian Sports such as Kabaddi, Gilli Danda and others, it provided us an opportunity to know about traditional sports and the rich history of India.”

Sharing her experience, Raskriti Jain, said, “I prepared for the Quiz competition by attempting regular quizzes online and with the support of my teachers and parents, I was able to win the State Level Quiz. The best part was that it opened up the world of sports for me, since I was not interested in sports initially but during the course of the preparation my interest in sports grew a lot and I look forward to winning the finals.”

Fit India Quiz-2022 is India’s biggest quiz on sports and fitness which provides a unique platform to students from every nook and corner of the country to showcase their knowledge in sports and fitness at the national level. The teams for the State Round were shortlisted after a Preliminary Round conducted by the National Testing Agency which saw the participation of 61,981 students from 16,702 schools across 702 districts of India. After the Preliminary Rounds of the Fit India Quiz, 348 schools were selected for the State round, wherein, the students answered a plethora of questions ranging from sports, health and nutrition to traditional games. From the State of Delhi a total of 433 schools participated and 8 schools had qualified for the State rounds which was conducted on a specifically designed web platform. 4 teams from Delhi were shortlisted for the State finals of Fit India Quiz-2022, conducted in the month of May-June 2023 and the National Finals of Fit India Quiz -2022 are scheduled to be held in Mumbai.
