DELHI GOLF CLUB MEMBERS LEAGUE POWERED BY RADICO: Day-1

New Delhi: Team SwingkKings staged a magnificent recovery to come back from 6 games down to win their contest against Deutsche Motoren (4 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw), on the opening day of the 5th Edition of the ‘Delhi Golf Club Members League powered by Radico’. The League, being played at the historic par-72 Delhi Golf Club course, features 16 days of hard-fought golf and will conclude in a Grand Finale on April 18, 2026.

The Ceremonial Gong to officially launch the 5th Edition of the ‘Delhi Golf Club Members League powered by Radico’ was sounded jointly by Raj Khosla – President DGC and Vikram Seth, Captain – DGC.

Earlier, the inaugural tee shots were played jointly by Chairman Tournament Committee – Col. Mohit Nasa (Retd.) and leading talented junior golfer Aditya Misra.

Of the seven games being played between the two teams, SwingKKings was down in six of the games at the mid-way point. They lost the first two games but staged a remarkable fight-back to win four of the next five games, drawing one to win their match. They have thus scored 9 points for the four wins and one draw.

Meanwhile, 24 Lions tallied 11 points to beat MMG Coca-Cola who managed just 3 points. The brother duo of Anuj and Anoop Nahar drew first blood for 24 Lions, beating Sunita Dutt and Viraj Gadhoke 2&1. The next match was tied but thereafter 24 Lions went on a rampage to register wins in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh games, conceding a win to their opponents on the sixth.

Birdie Machine triumphed against Sara X Golf Code. Kim Atwal and Kunwar Raghav Bhandari drew first blood for Sara X Golf Code in the opening encounter. But Birdie Machine drew level in the next game. After four games, the two teams were still tied at two wins apiece. Birdie Machine came back in style however, to win the fifth and sixth games, aided by the experience of leading Amateur golfers Faizal Qureshi and Shiraz Singh, who with their partners, delivered telling blows in the two respective matches. A consolation win in the final match of the day, was a case of too little too late for Sara X Golf Code. Birdie Machine were rewarded with 8 points while their opponents managed 6.

In the contest between Eagles & Birdies and Athletic Drive, Athletic Drive won the first three games to tally 6 points early on. After two tied holes, Eagles & Birdies won the sixth but Athletic Drive finished off with a win and a tally of 10 points as against their opponents’ tally of 4 points.

The League is being played on a four-ball better ball Matchplay Format and over two stages – a Round Robin stage followed by a Knock-out stage. During each playoff match between two teams in the Round Robin stage, each team will field 7 pairs (14 players). One pair from each team will play against a pair from the other team in the above-mentioned format, with all the players playing off 90% of their original handicaps. The teams will get points for their wins. The 24 teams have been divided into 4 groups. After the Round Robin stage, during which the teams from one group will compete against each other. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Knock-out stage starting with the Quarter-finals. In the Knock-out Stage the matches between two teams will be contested by seven pairs (14 players). The Finals, as mentioned earlier, will be played on 18th April, 2026.
